Zulu Collection

The Zulu Collection was inspired by the vibrant hues and unique history of African trade beads. These beautiful beads were used for thousands of years by many indigenous cultures as both a form of currency and adornment.

We especially loved the inter-locking characteristic of the coral colored snake beads used throughout this collection. These beads are handmade, however traditionally they where made from the vertebrae of a serpent. Since snakebites were considered to be a bad omen, many tribes adorned themselves with snake vertebrae as a protective amulet. We loved the story behind the snake beads and besides who couldn’t use a little extra protection these days to keep any bad juju away from their happy vibes!
